Arguably, the heart of any home is its kitchen. Whether eating, cooking or simply socializing, the kitchen has a way of pulling everyone together; it seems every party, regardless of its origins, ends there. So when you consider designing or remodeling your kitchen, bath or those other special rooms in your home, there is no such thing as too much consideration. We can assist you throughout the entire process.
Gaylord Design is a green design firm specializing in kitchen, bath and interior designs that are both functional and sustainable. We are not just a green design firm, but a green design firm with over 20 years experience in the environmental field. Our goal is to capture our client’s personality with innovative and beautiful designs by offering solutions that not only address comfort, health and personal aesthetics, but also appreciate our delicate environment. Gaylord Design proves that ‘green’ can be sophisticated as we assist clients in finding their comfortable ‘shade of green’ without compromising tradition or elegance.
Gaylord Design also offers designs for those discerning clients who want to enjoy their
home throughout their life featuring the same sustainable approach. Designing with Aging-in-Place appreciation allows clients to remain in their homes as they age into
retirement and beyond. Kitchens and baths are designed with features that are subtle
but chic, sophisticated and comfortable.

Principal and owner, Sandra Gaylord combines her love of design with experience of more than 20 years as an Environmental Protection Specialist. After years of designing for family and friends, Sandra decided to make design with a sustainable focus a full time career. She holds a Bachelors degree in Interior Design from Marymount University in Arlington, VA. During her time in Washington, D.C. she was design assistant to the prestigious firm of Barbara Hawthorn Interiors, noted most for high-end residential work. Sandra’s interest in kitchen design then led her to a position with well-known kitchen designer, Dee David and Company in Virginia. Some of her projects included the Washington National Symphony Showhouse and the Forbes Magazine sponsored Washington Design Center Showhouse. She returned to her native lowcountry in 2007 to open Gaylord Design and to be part of the area’s growing interest in sustainability.
She is a Certified Kitchen Designer (CKD) and member of the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA), an Allied Member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), and member of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). She also serves on the Sustainable Council Committee for ASID.
